Call for Proposals
Deadline for Submission: Friday, January 10, 2014
The National Cooperative of Health Networks Association (NCHN) invites NCHN members, Business Partners and guests with an interest in health networks to submit proposals for presentations at our 20th Annual Conference in St. Louis, MO. The conference is an opportunity for network leaders to network, learn and share with their peers.
We are seeking presentations that discuss and explore strategies of a successful network and that strengthen the leadership skills of the network leader and staff. The target population at the NCHN conference is Network Leaders, network staff, and network board members. Presentation proposals related to the following topics are of interest:
- business planning for networks
- collaboration skills and tactics for creating strategic partnerships .
- concepts and skills for managing change
- expanding and developing negotiation skills
- developing new programs and shared services to diversity network revenue streams
- framework of organizational performance measures
- how to determine and articulate the network’s value to its members and customers
- improving written communications skills, specific to developing reports and keeping community informed
- maintaining board member commitment and participation
- sharing of network best practices and innovations
- the continual implementation of Health Information Technology programs within health networks, some examples:
- considering impact of meaningful use 2 and 3 on networks and their members
- how health information exchange can help networks meet the needs of their members
- support excellent transitions of care within the network and with community partners by sharing information
- what technology is needed for analyzing both business and clinical data; how networks can support big data
- understanding ACA (Affordable Care Act) and addressing challenges for networks and their members
- understanding performance frameworks for network sustainability
Calling all network leaders! Share your success stories on any of the above suggested topics are welcome! Consider putting together a panel of your peers for a Roundtable Discussion or provide a hands-on workshop about one of your recent Best Practices!
Presentations are sought in the following formats:
- Best Practice Updates: approximately 15 minutes; given at beginning or end of plenary session; and must have a tool and/or take away that network leaders can implement into their own network. Hands on, audience interactive and/or participation.
- Roundtable Discussion: approximately 60 minutes; 8-16 participants; seeking hot topics – facilitate a “think tank” discussion with participants and report back to full conference potential solutions or strategies that network leaders can immediately implement. Hands on, audience interactive and/or participation.
- Concurrent/Breakout Session: approximately 70 minutes; 20-25 participants; must include audience interaction; must provide participants take home tools that can be replicated within their network; can include more than one presenter.
- Plenary Session: approximately 45 - 60 minutes, all conference participants; an informative, information sharing type presentation; includes take aways for the participants; question and answer period at end of session; and may include more than one presenter in a panel setting. Topic must be an overall general management topic relevant for all types of networks.
Proposals should be submitted electronically by January 10, 2014 through the on-line submission form.
The following components must be included:
- Name, Title, Organization, and Contact Information for Presenter(s)
- A recent picture of the presenter(s)
- Brief bio of presenter(s)
- Title of Presentation
- Type of Presentation: Plenary, Concurrent, or Mini-Workshop
- Targeted Audience:: Horizontal; Integrated Vertical; or Overall General Management for all Networks*
- Two sentence description of presentation for conference program
- One or two paragraphs describing the presentation, including learning objectives of the presentation – what the attendees will take away (This information will be utilized to promote the conference and your presentation.)
*Horizontal Networks are organizations comprised of all like organizations, for example, a hospital network.
*Integrated Vertical Networks are organizations comprised of various organization types, such as hospital(s), rural health clinic, community health center, community-based organizations, public health departments, etc.
*Overall General Management: sessions that address management issues of a network organization, no matter
organizational type of network.
Presenters are responsible for all expenses related to delivering the presentation, if selected to present, including travel, lodging and meals, and the conference registration fee; however, non-NCHN member presenters may register for the conference at the membership rate.
The 2014 Annual Conference Planning Committee reserves the right to make final decisions on the selection of all presentations. Presentation applicants will be notified by January 31, 2014 if selected to present, so that travel arrangements can be made.
